Achievement is a word that sparks fires inside most of us. It does not matter who we are, all of us have a dream or a goal of some sort that we wish to achieve. The only question to ask ourselves is, "What is my dream and what steps do I have to take to make sure that my dream becomes a reality?" Mankind has held dreams, goals, ambitions, and objectives for generations and will continue to hold them for generations to come. If we are to achieve them, we will need to be driven to work hard and stand up for what we believe in and fight for it.

A great example of this is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King worked hard and fought even harder to forward his dream of having all people be able to live in peace and equality despite one's race, religion, or ethnic background. While it was a rather large dream and that it seemed impossible for one man to accomplish such an astounding feat, luckily he was not the only one during his time period who had a dream fairly similar to his own. People such as Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Bayard Rustin, and many more fought for their dreams and worked to see it become a reality. These select few are only a small drop of water in a giant sea of others who have practically worked themselves to the bone in pursuit of their dreams.

If your dream is to climb a mountain, then you will have to train and ensure you have all the necessary materials needed to make such a journey. If your dream is to get into a good college so you can be set for life and provide for your family, then you will need to read, study, and practice so you will succeed and be ready. The point of this is the path to achieving your dreams can be long, hard, sometimes even boring, but there are absolutely no shortcuts to this goal. If you practice, if you prepare, if you work hard, and if you work smart, then there should be no doubt that in your mind your dreams will one day become a reality.

To truly achieve your dreams, you must be sure to never give up on them—whatever they may be. The best thing about having a dream is once you achieve it, you get to find a new dream. No matter what you do, you cannot let your dreams pass you by, and giving up on your dreams also is not the best course of action to take. You should chase your dreams with all of your heart, no matter who tells you to give up or that your dreams are ridiculous or impossible. By doing this, you will be showing others what you are capable of and people will look at you and thinking: “Now that’s someone who’s going places." So, if you think you can achieve your dreams, do yourself a favor and go find out.
